Photography is something I love. It’s not just the art of it, or how pretty it is… while those reasons are there, I really love the emotion of it all.
The feeling. The flash of something known that you get when you see it. It might not bring back a specific point in time, but it’s almost like a fleeting scent in the air.
You can’t quite put your finger on it, but for a split second it takes you somewhere in your memories that you may not remember, but you feel.
I first found my love for Wedding Photography after seeing old wedding photos. You know the ones… black and white with people standing awkwardly next to each other. Absolutely no emotion on their faces. It got me thinking… I wonder what they felt when they saw their wedding images in their homes. When they were old and had children that had grown. Were they smiling inside? Was it a day full of laughter and dancing? I like to think yes.
This timeless feel is what drives me. Getting to the heart of your wedding day. The emotions that might not show on the faces, but are there in fleeting glimpses and stolen moments. Bringing that timelessness to modern couples who are just in love.
There really is a subtlety at weddings that I love. There are the moments that everyone expects, or wishes for; the emotion flowing out of your groom as you walk down the aisle or the excitement when you’re finally a married couple and get to strut your stuff back the other way. But there are also moments that happen so fast, and they can’t be anticipated or hoped for. That’s why it’s SO important to me that as your Wedding Photographer I stand back, watch, listen, take it in. Of course, we’ll have some posed images, but in the end it’s the ones that you didn’t see coming that will pull out the true feeling of your Wedding Day.
My family and I moved to Chicago at the end of Summer in 2018. Coming from Virginia, I was a little weary about re-acclimating to the cold… but the Polar Vortex of 2019 proved to make a normal cold day here nothing at all! A walk in the park really.
We have a little girl in Preschool who loves art and constantly asks me if she can take pictures with me. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right! Future employee of Jenn Marie Photography in training!
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, I have that down home blue collar vibe, but I’ve also lived all over, including Colorado, Washington State, Alabama, and Germany for 3 years. Being in Europe at such a young age really shaped my outlook on living life and the way I see things. I think it’s what really gave me a passion for Vintage Weddings and photography.
If you want to chat on a Sunday between August and the end of January, you’re going to have a really hard time because I am extremely dedicated to my Steelers. Football Sunday is something we plan our lives around in this house, so you’re more than welcome to come join us, but be prepared for passion! But I love company, so seriously… we always have snacks. Come on over!
