We’ve all heard the rumors. “It’s bad luck to see the Bride before the Wedding!” But, is that really true?
Chicago Weddings, and frankly Weddings nationwide, are steering further and further away from the traditional stereotypes and going against the steadfast rules of their parents and grandparents! Gone are the veiled faces, the huge bachelor parties the night before, and most of all, the First Look!
I’m here to tell you that if you TRULY want some priceless memories, there’s no experience that will make your Chicago Wedding Photos MORE emotional, passionate, and raw than a First Look!
Here are my Top Three Reasons to have a First Look at your Chicago Wedding!
NUMBER ONE: It’s a Release
Sometimes, emotions can build up so much on your Wedding Day that you can barely contain it. For some, that means breaking down as they walk down the aisle, or while they’re watching you walk down the aisle. It’s a really beautiful thing, but sometimes having that moment privately can really give you a second to think “wow. This is the person I love, this is the person I want to spend my life with. We’re doing this!”
Having your first look together, alone, can give you both the opportunity to take it all in, and let it all out.
This is the perfect time to ugly cry. Because no one is watching you but your Wedding Photographer! You can seriously snot face, tear streak, and ball on each other’s shoulders all before your grand entrance! And BONUS- there’s still time for a touchup of your makeup before you show yourselves to your family and friends!
NUMBER TWO: The PHOTOS!!!!
As soon as you walk down the aisle, it’s going to feel like time speeds up at about 100 times it’s normal pace. It’s going to be hectic, and no matter how much time you build in for your photos, it won’t ever seem like enough!
When you have a First Look, it is time set aside for JUST YOU! And I never get enough of that raw emotion as the two of you share that special moment. It’s seriously something that you can never capture any other way.
There’s really something to say about getting to see each other away from the eyes of your guests. And I promise, I’m as unobtrusive as possible. So go ahead! Be you, let it go, and enjoy one another before the chaos begins!
NUMBER THREE: It Really is Chaos!
You and your fiancé have been planning this day for SO LONG! The emotions are high, you’re about to walk down the aisle and start your lives together. This moment is so special, so life changing, and ultimately SO personal.
I always tell my couples that they will spend MORE time with me on their Wedding Day than with their fiancé, which is why it’s so important that we really like each other!
It seems crazy, but your guests, the dancing, the greetings, and everything in between will crowd your time. Sometimes, at the end of the night, when you make your exit, you’ll feel like you haven’t seen each other all night long. Imagine having time set aside before all of the craziness, time just for you. A moment to breath, to pray, to laugh, to cry. Just you. Just that moment. (Guys, I’m crying just thinking about it. UGH!)
So, whether you do a full fledged first look, or just hold hands without seeing each other, you will NEVER regret having that one moment with each other to remember forever.
